Participating in a bike race against the clock, called a time trial, doesn't require expensive gear or racing experience.
Time trials are called the “Race of Truth” because you race the clock—alone or as part of a team. Some riders use aerodynamic gear to go faster, but any road bike is fine. Racers are grouped by gender, age, or skill, and we also offer a “Retro” division where aero gear isn’t allowed. Time trials are among the safest race types because riders aren’t crowded together.
To enter the CCTTS Time Trial you need:
- The CCTTS entry fee.
- We offer a special First‑Timer Registration Fee of $15 (regularly $45).
- A USA Cycling (USAC) license.
License Options:
- You can purchase a USAC one‑day license for $15 when you register on our site
- Or purchase a one‑year license (as low as $20) directly at https://usacycling.org/member.
- A one‑day license does require you to race in Category 5 (novice).
- A one‑year license allows you to race in any category, including Retro (no aero gear).
- If you decide to race again, your one-year license will be valid for all USAC sanctioned events, including the remaining races in the KHMT Time Trial series.
A USAC license provides insurance coverage and helps support the sport.
